I am excited to introduce you all {or re-introduce} to Kirah from A Pretty Shoppe. I met Kirah on the internet from when I ran my own little Etsy shop and we hit it off. We became friends that confided in the ups and downs of running a business online. We got to know each on a personal and business level that helped us make major business decisions together. Kirah has been a wonderful blessing to me and I always enjoy talking to her and getting to know her more.

Tell me about yourself,and where you call home.

I’m a daughter of God, lover of country music, the sunshine, and making pretty things. I was born and raised in the Emerald City {Seattle, WA} so that will always be home. At 19, I packed everything I owned into a truck and moved to Austin, TX which is where I now reside with my Mr. Handsome.

How did “A Pretty Shoppe” get started?

I established A Pretty Shoppe after Mr.Handsome and I lost our first child in January 2011. I knew through the grief,I needed to put my energy and emotions into something so I started creating &healing. After much encouragement from family and friends, A Pretty Shoppe was born, as my creating and healing became a passion & love.

What are the most challenging things about running an online business? What is the most rewarding?

I think the most challenging thing about owning and running an online business is finding balance. I would spend all day in my pretty little studio finding inspiration and making pretty things if I could. However, I do have a home to take care of and a Mr. Handsome that likes to spend time with me too.
The most rewarding part of running my shoppe is the AMAZING people I have met along the way. I’ve heard how my story inspires people, how they can relate as they have gone through the same, or how they simply love the pretties I create.It’s those notes and messages that keep me going. I keep a “Rainy Day” folder in my desk – so the days I don’t feel as creative, I pull out those notes and read them and remember why I opened my shoppe in the first place. Those notes bring sunshine back to my “Rainy Days.”

Where do you see “A Pretty Shoppe” in 5years?

It’s hard to say where I see my shoppe in 5 years. When I opened this little shoppe I never imagined it would be where it is NOW. I just pray wherever it goes and however it grows that I always remember why I make pretty things.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

For myself- I want to continue to grow in my walk with God. After that, I want to be a good wife to my Mr. Handsome, and a mom to a healthy, happy child {or 2 or 3}. I want to watch my children grow up, I want to be an example to my children of what walking with God and following your dreams looks like.

Tell me something people would be surprised to hear about you.

1. I am slightly addicted to Sweet Tea. {I drink it daily.}

2. I wanted to be a Librarian when I grew up. I love books! In fact, I would line my dolls up along the wall and glue library cards on the inside of my books and check books out to my dolls.{I never thought I would own my own company}
